CADCON Group strengthens competencies in the area of Industrie 4.0: Strategic partnership with smart reality experts from XCYDE GmbHPress 2. May 2017
Gersthofen, Germany, 2 May 2017 – Significantly more efficiency in system construction by means of fully functional, walk-through VR 3D models – that is the goal of cooperation between CADCON and XCYDE, two Bavarian companies. This allows the CADCON Group to complement its engineering expertise by adding groundbreaking smart reality competencies. The result is highly developed IoT solutions for national and international clients from mechanical engineering, aerospace technology, and the process industry.
Competitive edge with smart reality solutions
Industrie 4.0 is thoroughly revolutionizing development and manufacturing processes. It involves not only networking production plants, but also performing thoroughgoing digitalization of entire value-added chains. In future, work will be interactive, interdisciplinary, and collaborative. Relevant data will be available everywhere at all times. Projects will be fully scalable. It will be possible to implement customer requirements immediately. The result will be unprecedented flexibility and efficiency in industrial production.
“This dynamism provides great opportunities, but also involves enormous challenges,” says Robert Bauer, CADCON Holding’s managing partner. “If you want to remain successful on the markets in future, you have to get up to speed with the Internet of Things now. We want to provide optimum support to our clients during this digital transformation and thus give them a competitive edge. That is why we have secured th
Digital twin allows significant efficiency increases
“Our concept of smart reality involves the intelligent combination and further development of augmented and virtual reality,” explains XCYDE Managing Director Kai Thomas. “A concrete example is the digital twin.” A digital twin is generated by the MetaVR software and hardware system and provides a three-dimensional walk-through model that maps reality onto the virtual world 1:1 – including all functions and product-relevant data. A study has documented examples of the practical advantages digital twins provide: Planning errors fell by 70% and planning time by 30%. At the same time, the degree of system maturity increased by 12%.
Intelligent connection of virtual and augmented reality
Another example of the well-thought-through combination of VR and AR is CADCON’s HEAD-MOUNTED DISPLAY. These data glasses allow the user to see his real environment and at the same time superimpose simulations, which is ideal for product development and series production and support for commissioning, guiding drones, and training in special vehicles.
